Blessed Sheriff, MD, MPH (she/her/hers) graduated from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and is a current psychiatry resident at Georgetown University. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University with a special focus in global mental health and research.
In her writing, she aims to explore pathways towards healing and social change for vulnerable populations. Her work has been featured in numerous publications including Write About Now, The Washington Post, PLOS One, and Pager Publications.
Program Learning Objectives – At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Assess the nature and extent of the role of the lay provider in mental health interventions
- Illustrate strategies used across interventions to recruit, train, supervise, fund, and evaluate the incorporation of lay mental health providers
- Indicate gaps and obstacles in the realization of intervention programs
